Marlene MackWe did the Namibia 11 day Pioneer tour and had a fantastic time. We saw breathraking landscapes and many animals without having to worry about anything because our guides took care of everything. Gibson and Givan did an amazing job. Having an immense knowledge and always reaching us a helping hand when necessary they permitted us enjoying this beautiful country to the fullest. All in all I can only say that we had lots of fun and made memorys we will never forget. I can tell Drifters is THE operator to choose to discover this untouched, beautiful country and its inhabitants, who are nice and friendly. Everything was well organised with a combination of excellent lodging (most nights) and beautiful spots for a few nights in campgrounds (always in nice settings). Our team of guides, Takalane (senior top guide from South Africa) and Antonio (local, inspired guide from Angola), were outstanding: super driver, stunning cook, informative, great sense of humour... FAQ
Drifters has been running small-group overland adventures across Southern and East Africa since 1983. With our own custom-built vehicles and highly knowledgeable and experienced guides, we offer authentic African adventures that take travellers beyond the usual tourist routes.
Group sizes are capped depending on the tour style: Pioneer and Explorer tours take a maximum of 16 guests, while Traveller tours are capped at 8 for a more premium, small-group experience and our Classic Bus Tour is capped at 30 guests.
We run four styles to suit different travel preferences: Pioneer (camping, rugged and adventurous), Explorer (accommodated, guided comfort), Traveller (small-group, premium), and Classic (structured, cultural and hotel-based, generally suited to an older demographic).
It depends on the tour you book. Our Adventure Pioneer & Explorer Tours are bookable on a sharing basis, without any single supplement surcharge. However on our Traveller and Classic Tour a single supplement does apply for a solo traveller.
Should you be booked on a tour which does not reach the minimum required number of passengers, then we will advise of this ahead of time with suitable alternatives to choose from.
Our tours cover Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Angola, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa, with routes often running the Cape Town to Victoria Falls corridor.
No prior experience is needed. Our tours are guided by qualified field guides throughout, and vehicles and routes are set up to handle the terrain, so you can focus on the experience rather than logistics.
